The surface color of the body should be a bright rusty red-orange which blends to a smoky gray-black on the flank, head, belly and feet. The surface color should extend as far down the hair shaft as possible to an off white under color. The standard goes into more depth on shading.

Eyes should be brown.

Nails should be dark.

Smutty tinge obscuring the rich orange body color, point or shading color that is too light, scattered white hairs.

White belly or tail, white toenails, white or off colored spots, any eye color not matching 'self' or base color.
